I listen to the ants in the leaves to the buzzing business of the bees for the story they might share through this thick summer night’s air I get carried away by the noise of their heartaches and their joys I jolt and tango to the pain to the sweet rumble of their refrain darling have you ever noticed that the view is actually just busy admiring you ? If you go away it’ll disappear please make it stay, make it stay right here you know, I think my dog’s in love with you too he spends his dreams running through fields with you barking at rabbits and chasing the moon swimming in lakes in the late afternoon
2.
my body knows every single place you go to when the daylight dies the night owls rise they hover and watch over the fields you cross under moonlit skies my body knows each path and road you take every hill and lake when’ll you be back ? nobody knows my body feels the pebbles under your heels as you walk the weight of your feet on slopes so steep that lead me to rusty towns that move again to the rhythm of your heartbeat my body knows each heartfelt choice you make every twist of fate when’ll you be back ? nobody knows
3.

meet me at the gates before spring bring somersaults, dandelions, the wind and a long piece of string to make a kite out of light oh I’ll build you a castle in the sand you’ll be the queen and this’ll be your land and we will breathe in your breeze and we will sail on your seas your face is a moon so bright your eyes capturing the night the wind fooling around with your hair oh I stand so still and stare am I even really there ? will I ever really dare ? oh I’d love to take a walk with you on bridges, through meadows wet with dew but it’s always late so I’ll just wait at your gate

Veil 03:33
I spoke on the phone with Death last night, she said « I’m sorry for your loss, but I can’t really talk right now, I’ve got to go to bed, got a big day tomorrow, but you, you should take your mind of things, get out, have a drink or two, see a show, call your friends, stay busy. If you like, we’ll talk tomorrow. » So I stepped out and stood on the sidewalk watching the city lights for a while. The night air was thick and walking through it was like making your way through goo, so I just stood still and watched the streets vanish under headlights of cars smashing every single particle into a billion lonely stars. I’ll ride these streets to the edge of town my ears to the ground my eyes to the sky to the heavens above Everything’s so far away, the sea, the mountains and the woods. The sky’s the limit, but it’s a pretty long fucking walk just to get out of town. Plus these shoes hurt. I lie down and watch the night sky looking for your star, but the city lights have buried them deep into space, where no man has gone before. Deep, deep, deep and so out of our reach. You’re out of my reach. I’ll ride these streets to the edge of town my ear to the ground my eyes open wide to the heavens above My skin expands and covers every inch of concrete with my grief. My skin is a veil covering every inch of street with my grief. My skin is a veil covering the streets. My skin is a veil.

Doreen watched the street from her kitchen window the cracks in the path the moss in the cracks housing tiny little insects all bathing in the sun « oh how I wish I was an insect who knows, it might be fun » Doreen spent the day in her backyard the little clods of earth all around the yard housing tiny little insects all busy in the sun « how lovely it looks to be an insect oh how I wish I was one » Doreen sat on her terrace and looked down at the square the people back from work the kids rushing back from school all remind her of tiny little insects eager for the day to be done « oh I wish I was an insect who knows, I might just become one. »
7.
I ride on a lion it is made of stone on the streets of Sandgate we roam alone on pebbled beaches we feel so free qnd fall asleep to the racket of the sea through endless nights we roam around town on these steep hills we wander up and down to silent shadows we speak in vain these silent shadows must think us insane this salty wind burns my skin and my stone lion is growing thin but there is nowhere we’d rather be my stone lion these sleepless nights and me some nights we run and some nights we walk some nights we scream and some nights we talk and when there’s a storm we sing out so loud the sea, the lion and I a very noisy crowd

The Clouds 03:41
we’ve got flour in a jar and sugar in a bowl as the sunlight settles on your lap it beams through your soul time just sticks around these days it’s got nowhere to go so we just sit and listen to the birds sing low we’ve got sweet coffee in our cups and silence in our rooms we lie on our sides and we fill it with tunes nobody comes around no more we’ve disconnected our phones so we just sit and listen to the soft wind moan we sit near the stove and watch the smoke fill the sky the stories it tells they help us get by I watch your lips move as you read, you read them out loud and I stare with wonder through your eyes at the clouds
10.
I'll 03:16
I’ll steal the night for you lock it in a room with the stars and the moon and I will keep the day from ever coming in so I can hold you tight on an endless night come knock on my door once, twice or more, scratch at it if you want to I’ll know that it’s you I will write down your dreams for you in a brand new pad that I’ll read when I’m sad and I will read them out loud for you and embellish them so it seems that I’m in your dreams come knock on my door once, twice or more, scratch at it if you want to I’ll know that it’s you I will sweep out the streets for you I’ll wipe out the dust, the muck and the rust and the grass will grow beneath your feet as you walk and the birds I will tame so they’ll sing your name in a song that I wrote for you at the beginning of time when you were mine

about

NEOPRISMES

"Leader (notamment) de Sweat Like an Ape, showman impressionnant, Sol Hess, se réinvente une fois de plus. Le voilà songwriter folk... tout simplement brillant." POPnews
